The Midwest Chapter is the noisy, busy and energetic Chapter that covers the heartland of America. We are an active Chapter with 15 Board members, regular educational and informative events for members and guests in Chicago, Minneapolis and Columbus and mentoring programs at the local colleges. Our event programs are designed for the enjoyment, enlightenment and networking opportunities for our members who come from a diverse range of educational backgrounds and work experiences.
Upcoming Programs
July 26th Tour, "What's Inside?", Newberry Library, Chicago
As part of our continuing program to discover Chicago's hidden research treasures take this guided tour of the Newberry Library collections and peruse the offerings at their annual book fair. The tour will include a talk with John Powell, who handles their research requests, permissions, and digitizing projects. The collection includes untapped resources and ephemera such as illuminated medieval manuscripts, world maps, historical sheet music and a plethora of historic engravings.
Tour to be followed by a casual lunch/coffee gathering, location TBD.

ASMP sponsors "PDN On The Road" was a two day seminar at Peggy Notebart Nature Museum in Chicago. Two days of seminars included a keynote address by documentary photographer Doug Menuez.

NPPA Flying Short Course in Photojournalism was held here in Chicago at Loyola Univeristy Center 6525 N Sheridan Rd Chicago. This two day event included representatives from national and local newspapers including Andrew DeVigal from the New York Times, Chicago Tribune photographer Jason Wambsgans, Michael Zajakowski Photo editor for the Chicago Tribune and and Craig Porter from Detroit Free Press speaking about his recent Emmy award winning project.
