The Seattle area of ASPP West hosted a major program on keywording on March 25, 2008. Held at the Photographic Center Northwest, where member Ray Pfortner is the Director of Education, Danita Delimont and Tom Wear moderated a panel of photo buyers followed by a panel of keywording professionals. With 86 people in attendance, it was obviously an important topic for many local industry colleagues. Danita noted "One of the biggest challenges is that we are merging the human brain and each individual's interpretation of an image, with the technology of the machine which has no interpretive powers at all!" It was a great relief for all to hear the buyer's panel comment on how they have a great deal of tolerance for inappropriate search results! We all know how wacky some of our search results can be!
