Great news from our friends at PicScout! They've generously provided corporate sponsorship to the ASPP to support local education events. Sponsorship money will be available to each Chapter to help cover event costs. PicScout will also make a brief video for chapter use in acknowledgment of ASPP as a Trade Associations Partner. Thanks to everyone at PicScout for promoting local ASPP outreach.

In industry news, the ASPP is joining with other associations in inviting publishers to meet and discuss licensing issues. The meeting is being coordinated through the offices of Nancy Wolff, legal counsel to the Picture Agency Council of America (PACA) and other trade groups including the ASPP. The other industry signatories are the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP), Editorial Photographers (EP) and British Association of Picture Libraries (BAPLA). The publishers invited to participate include McGraw-Hill, Pearson, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and Cengage Learning.

The goal of the meeting is to take steps towards resolving issues including clarity of usage, digital rights and relicensing in particular, and reducing time in negotiating contracts with image providers. The associations also hope to adopt an industry template including standard terms and conditions excluding pricing models. The proposed meeting is scheduled for March 10, 2011.
