Sometimes Just knowing how to get started can seem overwhelming. This Workshop introduces Adobe Photoshop in simple, logical steps, making it easy to start working its magic on your images.
TOPICS: navigating menus and panels | learning the tools | resizing and cropping images | choosing the right resolution and file format | using brushes | introduction to retouching and color correction
LOCATION: Macintosh graphics lab in midtown Manhattan.

Enhancing Your Photoshop Skills: Layers & Masks
Saturdays, January 21 & 28, 2012

Looking to improve your Photoshop skills?
This workshop is the perfect place to start!
In this workshop you will learn essential Photoshop skills while working on small, manageable projects. You will combine elements from different images, put objects on new backgrounds, learn to set up files flexibly to make editing easy, and much more!
TOPICS: when to use layers | creating layers | layer groups | merging layers | blending modes | methods of selecting | layer masks | creating vignettes | creating silhouettes

PREREQUISITE: basic familiarity with Photoshop

Mara Sachs is a professional photo retoucher, digital mechanical artist, and Adobe Certified Expert in Photoshop CS5. Since 1990 she has been providing training, retouching and digital production services to advertising agencies, retouching firms, designers, photographers and others in the graphic arts community. Mara lives in New York City and offers workshops, individual training and support in Photoshop, InDesign and other Adobe applications. She also offers individual training sessions both in person and remotely via Skype.
